Bowel Obstruction
Module Length: 48 Minutes
This module will teach case managers what bowel obstructions are, the ways they come about and how, as a case manager, you can act to spot the emergence of such conditions and how to act. After this module, you should be able to:
- Recognize the basic structures of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Identify signs of both healthy and unhealthy bowel function.
- Ask better questions to supporters about the persons bowel health.

Dehydration

- Identify how to recognize symptoms of GERD.
- Better appreciate when a person may be trying to communicate problems with GER through “behaviors.”

This course is designed for clinicians. It covers each Fatal Five item with greater depth with an eye to precise signs and symptoms and greater stress on health and safety repercussions. It stresses how to train staff on each item and how to help staff act as a set of eyes and ears so that health issues can be reported clearly as they happen.
